Put a Bow on it

If you’ve been keeping up to date to any  newness in my shop, you’ll know by now that I’m a bit bow obsessed at the moment.

Hair bows, Bow turbans.. Bows on sleeves. Well now it’s bows on shoes. I have been Photo 15-10-2018, 19 54 32spying them in a few magazines of late – and these bow shoes from Mother of Pearl caught my eye in Grazia Magazine the other week.

Now I keep seeing different takes on this trend everywhere.

So many ways to spruce up your shoes! I’m going to take a pair of simple black mules that my husband bought me for my birthday a few years ago.

Fabric & scissors

Hair Grips

Sewing machine & thread

First we need to make a small loop for the bow to be tied to –

Cut a small two strips of fabric – 1cm x 4cm; and sew together at the ends (right sides together)

Turn them the right way around and feed the small loop onto your chosen hair grip. I made sure that the rigid side of the grip would be on the inside of the shoe when attached – be sure you do the same.

I chose a jersey fabric remnant for my bows as this won’t fray; so no need to do any more sewing here! Fold your fabric in half, and cut out two bow shapes.

Now just feed each bow through the small loop and tie in a single knot

Now slide onto your shoes and you are ready to dazzle everyone in your newly embellished shoes! Bonus – you can use this in your hair too – or on whatever you fancy!Photo 16-10-2018, 11 29 13
